Kitchen Tools for Weekly Meal Prep

I used to dread meal prepping. Spending hours on a Sunday afternoon in a hot kitchen when all I want to do is go to the beach and hang out with my fam was not my ideal Sunday routine. Over the years, I’ve learned to hack my way to eating healthy without spending more than an hour cooking & I owe it all to these incredible kitchen tools.

In this blog post, I’m sharing my five favorite kitchen tools I can’t live without so you can, not only enjoy cooking but also stay on track with your health and fitness goals.

The 5 Kitchen Tools I Can’t Live Without

Kitchen Tools for Weekly Meal Prep #1: Spiralizer

A spiralizer makes it super easy to switch from regular spaghetti to a healthy veggie-based pasta. My favorite way to use this is with zucchini. There are hundreds of delicious zoodle recipes. I like to spiralize the zucchini ahead of time & store them in the fridge until I’m ready to whip up my fave low-carb “pasta” recipe. You can also spiralize butternut squash, carrots, apples, beets, & so much more. I use this little guy because he gets the job done but if you’re a pro spiralizer, you might like this one.

Kitchen Tools for Weekly Meal Prep #2: Reusable Food Bag

Going through a crap ton of Ziploc baggies? These plastic-free reusable bags are the perfect solution for saving money on disposable bags AND reducing your use of plastic. These Stasher bags come in all different sizes so they’re great for storing leftovers, snacks, and even lunches. They’re also safe to go in the microwave, dishwasher, & freezer. That’s an A+ from me.

Kitchen Tools for Weekly Meal Prep #3: Air Fryer

The obsession I have for my new air fryer is ridiculous. I put EVERYTHING in there: chicken, veggies, burgers, frozen foods, fish… I could go on for hours. It’s perfect for quickly making a batch of healthy chicken nuggets or roasted veggies in less than 30 minutes. My fave lately is making potatoes because they cook in less than 15 minutes (usually 45-60 min in the oven). Plus they come out tasting like delicious, crispy french fries without the added 300-500 calories of saturated oil. I LOVE this one from Cuisinart because it’s an air fryer toaster oven combo. That means 7 functions in 1 tool & I don’t need more than 1 appliance on my kitchen counter. YAAS. #adulting

Kitchen Tools for Weekly Meal Prep #4: Meat Thermometer

Okay… I know this isn’t the sexiest, coolest tool but I’m telling you: you need this in your life!! Ever find yourself consistently opening the oven/ grill to see if your meat is cooked? Or how ‘bout slicing open your protein & ruining the aesthetic of the food? Yeah… me too! I was sick of eating protein that looked mangled because of my constant slicing to check in my food’s cooked. In comes a meat thermometer. This one is an instant read but you can also buy one that is heat-safe & can stay in the oven/ grill. Ask Siri or Google for the proper internal temperature & you’ll have perfectly cooked protein. YUUUUM!

Kitchen Tools for Weekly Meal Prep #5: Kitchen Scale

A food scale is a must-have especially if you are trying to eat healthier. This is absolutely necessary for portioning out balanced meals and keeping track of your calories. Weighing out your food is MUUUCH more accurate than just using measuring cups and spoons. You’d be surprised what an ACTUALLY serving size of peanut butter looks like!
